Strategerizing

OK, no BS. Everyone has a plan. Like "retire with 2 bajillion dollars by the time I'm 94" or "stop biting my nails until they bleed" or "start selling my artwork" or "move out of my parent's basement" or "try and make the internet crash, permanently".

Some plans work.

A lot don't.

For all of you Youtubers with too much time on yer hands, here are 2 of my favorite infomercials where it didn't go as planned: Mr. Cheap Swords Gets Stabbed and Mr. Long Legs Bails Off Ladder.

I came across something the other day that is such a good visual for artists trying to figure out the whole social networking thing that I wanted to pass on because if I had 20 bucks for every time I've heard the phrase "what the hell does Twitter do", I would buy you dinner. But first, some facts and fiction...

FACT: the internet has changed how we communicate with each other
FICTION: if your hand is bigger than your face, you have cancer
FACT: the internet has changed the way artists do business
FICTION: cold weather is awesome
FACT: the internet has bajillions of social networking services (Digg, Stumbleupon, Myspace, Youtube, Technorati, Facebook, )
FICTION: getting kicked in the face with a soccer ball is awesome
FACT: the internet has changed the way we publish, print, post, and perform our artwork...at least it's given us a lot more options.

This visual by Hit Singularity (which has some great articles on business and technology by the way) relates to any artist trying to figure out the question "how do I connect my website, my fans, and all my other little sites together?" Click to enlarge.
